Well it looks like the Yellow Pages are going high-tech. Yes, we all use Google Maps for everything now – and it does do a great job of locating what we are looking for and it even provides you with a phone number, but the good old Yellow Pages are about to go high tech too. The folks behind the Verizon SuperYellowPages, have announced that the SuperYellow pages will directly link its offline print content to its existing online channel through the use of QR codes. Just scan the QR code on the cover of your SuperYellowPages, and you will be directed to a local version of Superpages.com. In addition, when you scan the QR code on the front of the SuperpagesDirect, you’ll receive mobile versions of local coupons.
How it Works
- Download a QR code reader application to your smartphone (if your phone doesn’t already have one). Many QR code reader applications are free.
- Access the QR code reader – which will act like a camera – and take a picture of the QR code appearing on the cover and in the SuperYellowPages and back cover of SuperpagesDirect.
- A picture of the QR code with the Superpages.com URL will appear on the screen.
- Click on URL and be taken to your local Superpages.com page where you can download the SuperpagesMobile app or to an array of local online coupons.
So the next time the mailman drops off a pile of Yellow Pages in your lobby, you may be inclined to actually let your fingers do the walking again.
