Great concept of campaign with QR code and iPhone application.

What's your Dot Tel QR-Code?

QR-Codes and Dot Tel domains: QR-Codes help save your time, weather you are a buyer, or seller.

Click on the picture, to enlagre (twice), or use the link, below.

Hi folks,

Imagine selling QR-Code stickers with embeded Dottel subdomains, as a package (code sticker with (mobile) internet presence / online advert page).

Imagine, going to http://codebook.tel

, and then from there, to: http://www.qrcb.tel/
(of course, you can go directly, once you are familiar with the therm).

Finally, what you get, is a generated code of your personal page on www.qrcb.tel.

The page, will then be your advert: Stick it wherever you want, and so that it can be seen.
For example, on advertising cards on notice boards in supermarkets, schools, universities, shops, and so on.

For the client, it is a no-brainer, as well, because he can save time, not having to look for a pen and paper, and not having to read all of the content of the advert: He can simply scan the advert with his smart phone (iPhone, for example).

So, you get a web page, and a QR-Code, related to it, and last, but not least, you also get a personal web address:

www.myservices.qrcb.tel

Or even something shorter, like for example, http://candy.qrcb.tel, or bmw.qrcb.tel. And which is your personal "book page" within the big "Quick Response Code Book" (qrcb.tel).

Mind you: These are .Tel pages, that get seen, on the go, anywhere. they get noticed, and a lot of attention, as you can simply scan them on the go, and read them later.

It is much less fiddly, because neither you, nor your client, must grab a pen...
And you can update your advert, whenever you like, in near real time. Also, on the go, from your mobile device, if you wish.

Needless to say, that your clients can also easily share and/or scan your advert, while viewing your advert page: There are a few social media networking links, as well as generated QR-Code, which you can use via link to a other website, where they are displayed.
Such a (free) service provider, is for example, is http://www.delivr.com.

The additional link within your advert page, may look something like this:
http://dotteldomain.delivr.com/11t6u*

It's brilliant, if you fully think of all this potential for advertising...!

Jump on the band wagon now, set up your business, spread the word, make big bucks...

Ok, now happy experimenting, with QR-Codes!

After Facebook, comes Codebook: Your code, is your face. Hey: This is about big business..., not chitt-chatt.

...And, oh: Codebook looks great on iPhone, too:

Have fun.

Triest.Tel: A new mobile directory for German speaking Italy tourists

Why I made this directory in German language:
Because of the rich and important background history from the Austrian Habsburg empire (ca. 1250 until precisely 1918) who ruled the town, until Italy was allowed to take over the town.

Pros and cons of Triest:

Pros:

--> very low criminal rate / no pick pockets / no violence in the streets
--> good food at restaurants
--> interesting housing market with lots of available and reasonable offers
--> promising economic situation: good outlook for the future
--> job offers
--> very mild and healthy climate
--> lots of sports activity options, just right there...
--> many fish markets and some good fish restaurants (sea food)
--> loads of reasonable pasta dishes at fast food places
--> lots of theaters, museums and cultural activities/events
--> fairly clean city
--> strict laws and high fines for air polluters, dog owners and motorists, who violate the rules
--> overall good quality of live, getting better, all the time
--> low tourism, compared with Venice and other Italien towns
--> good food and wine, everywhere
--> good and cheap public transportation
--> interesting and rich history of the city
--> lots of nice tea rooms (coffee) and bakeries
--> loads of stunning architecture/buildings, mainly historic palaces and art nouveau buildings
--> inhabitants helpful and reliable (punctual, etc.)
--> nearby Slovenia and Croatia, for trips and holidays
--> nice, for shopping, walking, or sitting in- or outside of cafe's
--> some nice communication with natives of the region (Italian language), at bus stops, for example, or the yearly sailing regatta, etc.

Cons:

--> high cost for food at shops
--> weak economic situation at present
--> low income rate
--> many old inhabitants (30% over age 65) / highest number of old inhabitants town in Italy
--> a lot of traffic and dangerous drivers, who think that they own the road
--> not so friendly or cheerful people, compared with the rest of Italy (more Slovenia mentality)
--> most inhabitants neither speak English, nor German, but only Italian or Slovenian
--> not very bicycle friendly town and area: no bike sharing offers in the center, or nearby, and trains mainly don't transport bicycles. Better have your own folding bike...

Get your updated info about Triest, now! Right from the palm of your hand, via your smart phone (iPhone, for example)! Simply dial "www.triest.tel", or scan the QR-Code, which you can find in the sub-folder "www.links.triest.tel".

Promissing looking Dot Tel Roadmap

In the near future:

--> Control panel redesign

--> Customization of .tel pages
--> Managing advertisements within the control panel
--> Much simplified model for private data sharing
--> Improved management of profiles

Done:

--> Updated look and feel for smartphones

Huw Stead: Not such a good communicator..., and neither is Justin Hayward. Looking smart, and acting smart, are two different things...

"As part of our ongoing developments, Telnic will soon be launching a new look for .tel names on smart phone devices, such as the iPhone, Android and BlackBerry.

Here is a sneak preview of an example smartphone view with new fonts, background colours and icons to make it easier to use contact information with your .tel:

Your logo or photo will be shown as well – so make sure that you optimize your logos for mobile devices as they can significantly increase the page weight, load time and, if on pre-paid contracts, the cost."

(Telnic July newsletter)

"...a new improved interface that will offer more functions for advanced users, and will help those new to .tel enjoy their experience.

Over the next few months, functional updates will be minimal while we focus on improving the user flow and delivering the new interface. We will keep the community informed on the progress and roll-out of this important product enhancement through future issues of the .telegraph and on the Telnic forum."

(Huw Stead, Engineering Director, at Telnic / Telnic August newsletter)

"You might notice a small difference on your .tel pages today if you've got a smartphone. Any ghosts in the machine, let us know telnic.tel"

(Justin Hayward at Twitter)

"...tolle Überraschung, die du da verkündest!

Der neue .Tel-Look funktioniert auf meinem iPhone super und es macht nunmehr eine Riesenfreunde damit .tel-Domains aufzurufen.

Bin überzeugt, dass damit die Attraktivität und Akzeptanz einer .Tel-Domain für den Betrachter deutlich gestiegen ist!"

(Kay Thee, at the Tel-Domain-Forum.de)

(Translation:
"...great surprise, as you proclaim!

The new. Tel-look works great on my iPhone and it's now a great pleasure to dial .Tel domains.

I am convinced, that the attractiveness and acceptance of a. Tel-domain has increased significantly for the viewer!")

"I am developping my dot tel website www.assnat.tel ; I've tested it on Blackberry and on iPhone : Blackberry shows the logos and images ; iPhone : no logo and no images.
Please, someone, explain me why Blackberry shows them but not the others smartphones.
Regards"

Comments:
The last days, Huw Stead, had been visiting the Telnic forum, but hadn't posted anything, leaving the gross of the .Tel holders uninformed about the improved interface of .Tel on mobile phones, and leaving them quasi "standing in the rain".

I notice poor communication skills, with all Telnic directors... -I thought, .Tel was about communication, and not website content...

About three .Tel tweets had announced the enhancement of the .Tel mobile interface, from which one tweet was coming from Justin. However, if you happend to miss out those tweets, which is very much likely to be, than you did not get a chance to get informed.

The .tel Roadmap had neither been updated to "done"/green, as far as I could see.

.

They told us, that .tel is about communication, and not web content. But after all I can grasp, this is my conclusion:

".tel is about commercials of latte and blondes."

(No, sure not: Only kidding...)

Ok: So what makes the Dot Tel domain better or more desirable than other social media network services?

.
Ok: So what makes the Dot Tel domain better, or more desirable than other social media network services?:

What other social media network websites offer, as well:

--> One single space, or point, to place all your contact info links, including social media links.

--> quick access through internet.

--> easy to get found in internet.

--> click to call (not all, but some?)

--> Other: Can you think of anything else?... Let me know...

--> privacy features. Hide phone or email address (only some, not all).

--> A Google location map.

--> Display of pictures and contact information.

--> customization of the online contact-, respectively, business card.

--> Free hosting.

What other social media network websites don't offer:

--> A personal and memorable internet domain name as your web presence, for accessing your contact information. Own ownership of a social media or small business domain, whereas a listing at Twitter or Facebook belongs to Twitter or Facebook, and not to you: You are just sub using it, for free.

--> 3000 sub-domains (three thousand).

--> A Google location map for each sub-domain.

--> A own and unique search engine, on each page / domain and sub-domain.

--> Contact info is stored directly within the Domain Name System (DNS)
(: Benefits, not so clear, though..., or not really visible or trackable.)

--> Integration of of your contact page, within your main (sister/mother) website.

--> Better SEO options: Because you are optimizing the search engines for a main web page, and not for only a sub-domain of an other domain owner. How?: With header- and title descripitions, as well as key words, that get indexed, and boost the SEO for your .Tel domain. And with the possility to add as many links, as you like (backlinks, crosslinking).

--> Basically, a Dot Tel domain enables you to have a better online presence for your small business, than if you would only try to promot your page(s) at Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin, etc.

--> The possibility to get your email address to match with your Dot Tel domain name.

--> The possibility to use different languages in the header- and title descripitions, as well as in the key words section.

--> The option to place adverts (custom adverts, or / and Google Adsense adverts).

--> The possibility to build a directory (containing many sub-domains / sub-folders).

--> What you can do on one page of your Dot Tel domain, you can do on all of its sub-pages:
SEO, advertizing, renting directory listings, posting link and text info, etc.

--> With a Dot Tel domain, you automatically have a mobile friendly web page, and which you can set up within minutes, to be online.

--> Better interaction between domains with the same name, and which are integrated and liked: mycompany.tel and maycompany.com. Whereas Facebook/mycompany/37404739 with mycompany.com, is not as effective. But any link, is good, especially, if it is about social media networking.

--> The possibility to set up a few so called "Profiles": Each profile can have other contact information: Example: myname.tel (contact info for my UK residence), myname.tel (contact info for Italy residence): I can keep my same .Tel name, and switch between profiles, respectively, online business cards.

--> The possibility to earn some tidy revenue, through advertizing, or affiliate marketing, or sub-letting/sub-renting advert space or directory listings.

--> Because the Dot Tel domain is a mobile friendly web page, you can add the QR-Code (quick response code) of your Dot Tel domain, so visitors of your site can scan it, and get your .Tel domain, without "dialing"/noting your .Tel name. Why would you want to do that on your Facebook-, or Twitter page?: Ok, it may be nice to look at, but in terms of business, probably not as effective.

--> The Dot Tel domain is more innovative, and constantly gets improved and updated with a number of enhancements and applications, within reasonable time.

--> The Dot Tel community members can be crafty, offer and suggest improvements, tools, etc., to make .Tel better. A bit something like within an open source Linux user community.

--> Promoting and branding your own Dot Tel name, is much more effective, and makes more sense, than if you would be promoting your Twitter, Facebook or WikiWorldBook page.

--> The Telnic service, is very new, and focussed on mid and long term success: So, this soon-to-be-popular service is in its early days, and so your investment and faith in .Tel will, most likely, be rewarded.

Conclusion:

Dot Tel, gives you more power!...

For less than $10 per year, you get all these options to benefit from. I must admit: It is a bit of "nitty gritty" work, to customize and to populate your Dot Tel domain, so that it gets a favorable ranking position within Google or Yahoo, bit is is sure worth the time, care and attention, put in it. You'll have a real "business booster"..., and updating it, will be childs play.

Behind the sceen, at the Dot Tel registry (Telnic) at Percy Street in London:

Human nature, greed, false economy, and scandals within the board of directors at Telnic, seems to be spoiling a lot of the fun:
The registry's slow promotion and work pace, is quite back-breaking, and they seem to be often unskilled and clumsy, if trying to do something their selfs, and their forum policy has led to the exclusion of the most brilliant forum members and .Tel contributors, and so that the forum is practically "dead", with an average of only two (2) online forum members. The main forum moderator, seems to be a big squarehead, acting very resolute, banning forum members, all the time. Well, there are not many left, from the "old gard"... But nontheless, it looks like it will pay, to stay faithful to .Tel, and make .Tel work for you and your business.

A big Telchina success, may be more wishful thinking, but lets, wait and see...

The rule of business, is, to firstly be successful, localy (within the UK and Europe), but which the registry has not yet achieved. This probably will still have to be achieved, in order for a success in China to be able to happen. I hardly can imagine, that it can be the other way around.
The local succes in the UK, would be so important for the registries potential success in China/Asia. For it to become possible and real.

And so, we are still waiting for more and faster promotion to be done witin the UK, Europe (and the US). Don't expect too much .Tel success in China, for a while, but stay tuned, however.

The Dot Tel domain has done quite well, in Canada, where it is supported and backened by the Canadian .ca registry Webnames.ca. Who had also produced the famous Love Train promotion video (by one of its doughter-companies). But a big .Tel success in Canada would also depend on an local success in the UK. Which, as I said, hasn't happened yet, due to very little and very slow marketing and promotion.

After one and a half years, I am still not able to see, how the registry "ticks", and what their strategy or concept is, if they ever had, or have one. Time, for the registry to get better organized, and to go for it, because competition from other service providers is getting bigger and bigger. And it is high time, to get used to a faster work pace. Competitors won't wait: They will either be there, a bit behind, or overtake.

But fingers crossed: The Telnic service, is very new, and focussed on mid and long term success: So, this soon-to-be-popular service is in its early days, and so your investment and faith in .Tel will, most likely, be rewarded.

Well, that is the picture!

Virtual private networks (VPNs) in mobile environments

Mobile VPNs are used in a setting where an endpoint of the VPN is not fixed to a single IP address, but instead roams across various networks such as data networks from cellular carriers or between multiple Wi-Fi access points.[14] Mobile VPNs have been widely used in public safety, where they give law enforcement officers access to mission-critical applications, such as computer-assisted dispatch and criminal databases, as they travel between different subnets of a mobile network.[15] They are also used in field service management and by healthcare organizations,[16] among other industries.

Increasingly, mobile VPNs are being adopted by mobile professionals and white-collar workers who need reliable connections.[16] They allow users to roam seamlessly across networks and in and out of wireless-coverage areas without losing application sessions or dropping the secure VPN session. A conventional VPN cannot survive such events because the network tunnel is disrupted, causing applications to disconnect, time out,[14] or fail, or even cause the computing device itself to crash.[16]

Instead of logically tying the endpoint of the network tunnel to the physical IP address, each tunnel is bound to a permanently associated IP address at the device. The mobile VPN software handles the necessary network authentication and maintains the network sessions in a manner transparent to the application and the user.[14] The Host Identity Protocol (HIP), under study by the Internet Engineering Task Force, is designed to support mobility of hosts by separating the role of IP addresses for host identification from their locator functionality in an IP network. With HIP a mobile host maintains its logical connections established via the host identity identifier while associating with different IP addresses when roaming between access networks.

HOW TO: Set Up A VPN Server On Your iPhone/iPad:

There are a lot of great apps in the app store, but some of them are not accessible to everybody because you can only use them in certain countries ( usually the US ) . One of those apps is Pandora (Pandora). But who said, we need to wait until Pandora is ( if ever ) available worldwide? Here’s what you can do, if you want to use Pandora ( and probably other apps like Vevo and Hulu (Hulu) ) outside the US.

NOTE: the method I’m about to show you here, is totally free. Because it is free, you will get what you paid for. Sometimes the apps work , and sometimes the servers are too busy. Just browse around, maybe you find some better free VPNs , or you can always pay for one, and get much much better results.

So, all you need to do is to configure a VPN server on your iPhone. We’re going to use Hotspot Shield , so lets see how to do that:

1. Turn WiFi OFF and find the VPN settings in Settings> General (general reviews)> Network> VPN> Add VPN Configuration.

2. Select the IPSec tab/pane:

3. Add:

* Select the IPSec tab/pane
* Description: HotspotShield
* Server: 68.68.107.101
* Account: oscor2
* Password: oscor2
* Use Certificate: OFF
* Group Name: hss
* Secret: hss

NOTE: if account and password credentials won’t work, get your own here…

4. You are now done. Save the settings and hit the “HOME” button to quit. Make sure to turn Wi-Fi back “ON”.

5. To activate it on your iPhone, the VPN setting needs to be turned on. From “HOME” menu, go to Settings and click the “On” tab for VPN. Your Status will change to “CONNECTED” and the VPN icon will appear on top in the iPhone Tray when complete. If you cannot connect to the VPN immediately, power down your iPhone, turn it back on, and turn the VPN to “ON”.

If you cannot connect to VPN immediately, power down your iPhone, turn it back on, and turn VPN to “ON” in “Settings”.

6. Enjoy

Using QR Codes for Mobile Tagging has some pitfalls, that you should definitely avoid.

QR Code with 20 characters

QR Code with 80 characters

QR Code with 200 characters

QR Code with 400 characters

Pitfalls:

Using QR Codes for Mobile Tagging has some pitfalls, that you should definitely avoid.

Most problems arise because the tester has a good phone (like Nokia's N95) with a high quality camera, but the actual user has an average phone with an average camera.

Whitespace / Quitezone:

Make sure you leave an empty space of around 4 modules on each side.

Amount of data:

You should not encode more than 60 characters in a QR Code. Otherwise detection will be too bad with average phones (see "Capacity").

Color:

You should always use black and white. If contrast is too low code detection will be impossible.

Design:

Some people add logos in the middle or change colors. You should not do that (although it looks very cool) as detectability goes down and people will have difficulties to recognize it as a QR Code.

Size:

The code should never be smaller than 2cm (with ~40 characters encoded). The more characters you encode the larger the code has to be. But you should never encode more than 80 characters.

And here is exactly, how one should NOT do it (because the code is far too small..., and there is not enough empty space of around 4 modules on each side.):
http://a1.twimg.com/profile_background_images/60295168/Twitter_Background.JPG
Average phones with an average cameras, may not be able to scan your code properly..., Justin.
He is not thinking mainstream friendly. Telnic never was thinking very mainstream friendly. Quasi only tech savy users and developers, had a chance to understand .Tel and all its features.

Dot Tel domain killer marketing: How to do the most effective marketing with Quick Response Codes:

How to do the most effective marketing with Quick Response Codes:

QR codes are only useful for you, if you can scan them.

Which means, that you must have your smart phone with you.

But you can scan a QR code from anywhere, and from any distance, as long as the code is big enough for your smart cell phone to read.

You can scan a QR code from facades of buildings, through shop windows, from any display, such as PC, laptop or an other cell phone display.

A QR code will provide you with contact info, much faster, than if you would dial a phone number, or note a email address, or website link.

Entering and adding new contact info on mobile phone displays, will often happen, by scanning the info, more than dialing or tiping the info. Simply, because it is faster, easyer, and time saving.

However, you can only get someone to scan your QR code, if you can tell them, what sort of information they would get, by scanning your code.

Here, you must get crafty, because just publishing a single QR code, won't bring any results, and will only cost you advert space, that no one will read, nor scan.

In a nut shell: Only provide QR codes, together with a description about the info emedded within the code.

To be continued...

About Navigation Design for Dot Tel domains

A usable navigation design improves the end-users experience and makes sure that users don’t leave the website due to frustration as they are not able to use your website on their mobile device.

Here, we will discuss some important aspects of navigation design for mobile websites:

1.Provide only minimal navigation at the top of the page:
Only basic navigation to help users enhance the experience by reducing clutter for these relatively small screens. Core links upfront also help users to navigate across the application easily without getting much frustrated. In case of footer links, provide very few (2-3) and only if it’s really essential and helps users.

2. Balanced Site Structure:
Unlike desktop-based browsers, mobile web browsers has too many limitations like screen size, hardware’s processing capabilities, memory, etc. Scrolling too much could be painful for the users on such devices. So, the information architecture will need to take care of this balance between that will help end-users to reach the desired content with minimal links.

Inessential links or steps added to get the desired content make users frustrated and they simple stop using the site.

3. Consistent Navigation Mechanism:
The way users navigation on mobile devices is not as easy as pointing devices like mouse on a desktop and they have to rely on joysticks / 4-way navigation or keypad. In such a case, using a consistent navigation method helps a lot.

A “drill-down” navigation mechanism in such interface can help end-users, as it is based on the major headings that take you inside it based on your preferences. For example, someone who wants to see what’s available in movies or music can be directed to the same using main heading link as “entertainment”. Also, we should make sure that links that takes him to main homepage or category homepage are available, e.g. home, entertainment, up, back to top.

Make sure you keep these links minimal required and steps to get the desired content also very minimal, as users may not be interested in going for more retrievals or clicks to get the content he / she is looking for. Also, some form of breadcrumbs can help them to track their trail as well as to go back easily.

4. Device-based Access Keys:
Unlike traditional desktop computing, mobile device is not capable of relatively easy-to-use point device (but is bit easier in smart-phones with some point device like stylus). In such a case, we should use the built-in capabilities of the keys built on the device, which are keyboard shortcuts for a mobile device. Users can press a number on the keyboard to go to a link associated with.

Also, make sure that same access key assigned a link is used across the application for the same link.

5. Description for the link:
Provide information related to a link. For example, if a link is directed to a file which may not be supported by the end-users device, it may be frustrating for him as he isn’t ware of the kind of file type is linked with that particular link. Handsets which don’t support videos etc. may show undesired response and may frustrate the end-user.

6. Do not Use Image Maps-based navigation:
Even though it’s an effective way to navigate by using client or server-side image maps, most of the mobile devices don’t support them. Also, usage of images as navigation should be avoided as end-users with information-seeking behavior tend to disable loading images and your navigation may go completely invisible for the end-user, as browsing websites on mobile devices do involve data usage charges to the end-users and they may be simply not interested in viewing those images as they have to pay for it.

There could be more ways to design a better navigation for mobile web. Please contribute them here if you can think of anything.

The "Share and Scan" website for Dot Tel Domains

A quick refresher on QR codes (Quick Response Codes) for the uninitiated. QR codes are a very useful tool for pointing people to more information about your product.

You take a photo of the two-dimensional bar code with your phone and you are automatically taken to the web site that is embedded in the code.
This only works with smartphones such as the iPhone, BlackBerry or Droid phones, but these are the most popular phones these days.

What is the added value of the hassle of scanning a QR code? The challenge is going to be figuring out what the user wants when they are scanning and are we giving it to them. Is it information? Is it a coupon? What can I give the scanner that will prompt a next step? What are the expectations? Am I adding value?

Here is way how to let the visitor decide, if he wants to scann the QR code, by taking a sneek preview of the mobile web page:

Mobile sharing with "Delivr".

Share your mobile-friendly Delivr URLs with friends and fans across several popular services.

Delivr generates a QR Code for each mobile-friendly URL. Distribute them where your audience can see and scan them.

Example for leskovac.tel:

QR codes usage for Dot Tel domains

QR-Code for "dot-tel-domain.tel"

A quick refresher on QR codes for the uninitiated. QR codes are a very useful tool for pointing people to more information about your product.

For Dot Tel usage, the QR-codes, should be either displayed on a mobile site, or on a paper business card.

Or from all sorts of stickers, from T-shirts, through shop windows, from print media (magazine pages, adverts), etc., etc.

It is easy, to access and read/scan the codes, from smartphone to smartphone, and to read the info on the smartphone.

WikiWorldBook versus Dot Tel

A free address book listing in WikiWorldBook.com “The Global Address Book” enables users to store and manage all their contact information on their own search engine optimized web page without the need for their own website.

It also enables them to be found and contacted by email within three clicks of a Google search of their name – without them even having to reveal their contact details and without the person contacting them having to register. This is primarily achieved through a simple customizable “profile page” which can contain as little of the user’s contact details as their name, nationality and gender. Messages go directly to their regular email service, so they don’t have to return to the site to pick them up. This Visual Guide gives a detailed list of the address book’s easy to use features.

Alternatively, users may want to display their full range of contact details to provide the people looking for them with the means of contact that best suits them. All users’ address book pages are highly search engine optimized to ensure that they rank well in Google’s results on a search for the user’s name, including “vanity urls” that contain the user’s name.

Users can differentiate between their personal and work contact details and use the structured format to add photos, building addresses, telephone numbers, websites, IM & VOIP links, social media and social profile links and well as add their own biographies and interests. All the user’s email, IM and VOIP services are hyperlinked so they immediately launch the appropriate service on the visitor’s device with one click. Users can add their social links to drive traffic to their other web properties and increase their authority with the search engines.

The address book provides a compelling free alternative to Telnic’s dot tel (.tel) domains which are subject to an annual domain name charge. Examples of each company’s products can be compared here – a John Smith profile on WikiWorldBook and a dot tel Telnic domain. Whilst Telnic’s underlying technology is undoubtedly more superior – being hosted directly on the DNS (the backbone of the internet) rather than on a normal web server, which provides for more rapid page loading – users have a clear choice to make over paying an annual recurring charge indefinitely or getting a reliable service for free.

Users control all their own information as they can delete their address book listing and all their information in a matter of seconds from their own control panel. A full range of Privacy Controls gives the user complete control over individual entries, so that they can share their information with people that they choose. Users are indexed quickly by Google and generally appear in their search results within a few days, whilst a powerful proprietary spam filter ensures that spam is negligible or non-existent. Many users will find this innovative address book as the solution to managing their online identity.

The WikiWorldBook address book is truly global with users from over 150 countries already currently registered in its Global Address Book. Based on current visitor conversion rates, the company anticipates that its global target market is around 15 million registered users, which might rise as brand awareness increases.

Many users will also find the optional Search Alert useful. This can notify them by email when they have been Googled and provides them with the searcher’s geographical location and IP address. If the user has been Googled by a company or organization, then more often than not the company or organization can be fully identified by name – making it an invaluable tool for small business people and job seekers. If the searcher is a company or organization, rather than an individual, then more often than not they can be identified.

Without needing to build, host or manage their own website, users can:-

Join an online global address book that provides them with immediate worldwide exposure.

Be found and contacted by email within 3 clicks of a Google search of their name – without having to reveal their email address and without the person contacting them having to register themselves.

Provide a fast way for people to connect with them in a single click from any mobile device

Display all their means of communication in one place under their control.

Update and manage their contact information in real time.

Promote their own business and web properties online and increase their traffic, authority and search engine visibility.

Who does it appeal to?

Online address book services appeal to a broad spectrum of people –

People wanting to stay or get back in touch with old friends and family.

Professionals who want to be easily found and connected with clients.

Small business owners & entrepreneurs who want to promote themselves and their business.

Job seekers who want to control their online reputation and demonstrate their aptitude with the internet. The majority of Human Resources departments now carry out internet due diligence on prospective candidates.

People who are happy being listed in their national telephone directory.

People who are interested in genealogy or similar subjects who want to rapidly share knowledge and ideas online with people they do not know.

People who want to promote their own web presence.

WikiWorldBook is a private limited company. The service it offers is solely a low maintenance address book service and not a social network. Users are not subject to the usual deluge of social network notifications (like “request to connect” emails, update emails, spam or new applications) and the service restricts itself to a quarterly service email update.

"For the last couple of months, the joke around the office has been that dot tel would be extremely useful for “ladies of the evening”.

We just couldn’t come up with a way of marketing to them that didn’t sink us into tawdriness.

Well it looks like we are too late – they have discovered dot tel without our help.

Anyone who is on Twitter has a large number of “working girls” following them. A review of the tweets that Dot Tel Finder aggregates http://www.dottelfinder.com/tweets/ shows two such ladies who believe .tel would be an asset to their business.

Some Googling on this particular demographic of Twitter users shows that they are early adopters of all technologies as their job mandates the need for constant promotion and accessibility.

It seems that any sole proprietorship has the same needs – you have to constantly market yourself in different arenas and be available to clients through a myriad of channels.

So if Twookers have discovered .tel , why haven’t you?"
